The 41 players is a group that was formed in 2010 out of love for the music and cultural heritage of New Orleans. We play the music of the masters: Louis Armstrong to Dr John, the Meters to Lee Dorsey.
The group got its name from Pier 41 which is at the end of Dikeman Street in Red Hook, Brooklyn where some members of the band live, and where the 41 players had their first gig.
They’ve had several residencies over the years and plan to keep the party going.

Liz Hanley is a Brooklyn based singer and fiddle player across many genres.
Growing up in Boston into an Irish Hungarian American family, Liz Hanley learned traditional fiddle tunes from her father/fiddle player Andy Hanley, songs and stories from her grandparents Martin Hanley, Rita McNamara and Ray Nagy and family friends Brian and Lindsay O’Donovan. She attended the New England Conservatory Preparatory school where she studied under Blanka Bednarz and then Eric Rosenblith. She has toured globally with Mick Moloney and the Green Fields of America, as well as prog folk rock ensemble Frogbelly and Symphony and chamber rock band Emanuel and the Fear.
Hanley spent many years living between Brooklyn, NY and Sheffield, England, immersed in the both city’s rich folk music scenes and collecting songs and tunes. Today she can be found mostly playing around NYC in the Irish traditional seisiún scene.
Hanley’s debut album “The Ecstasy of St Cecilia” was hailed “a gentle work of beauty” by FolkWorld. Hanley’s sophomore album will be arriving in 2024. Both records feature long time collaborators and friends Jefferson Hamer and Eamon O’Leary of the Murphy Beds.

With over two decades of experience behind the 1s and 2s, Bronx born and raised DJ Nique became obsessed with the art of DJing after watching Run DMC’s Jam Master Jay on Video Music Box at the tender age of 8. Years later, Nique made his way on to the roster of Scratch Events, a company co-founded by Jam Master Jay himself.
Dominican-American Nique comes from a musical family. His uncle Juan German-Vazquez played bass for Josie Esteban y La Patrulla Quince and his late uncle Felix German-Vazquez was trombone player and bandleader for 80s Merengue sensation Wilfrido Vargas; Wilfrido’s hit “El Africano” was most recently sampled in Pitbull’s “The Anthem.”
Nique’s ability to merge and seamlessly transition through genres earned him the title “The Most Versatile and Worth Your While” in his Buffalo, NY college days. During this time he became a resident DJ at the city’s most popular club Level. Nique has had the honor of rocking at some of the hottest venues in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle and Miami. JESSE BARNES
@barneznova
Although he hails from the Rust Belt, guitarist/composer Jesse Barnes has devoured an eclectic mixture of music. In the early 90’s he came up listening to hip-hop and shining shoes in his father’s barbershop on Cleveland’s east side. It was here that he was introduced to the guitar and after cutting his teeth in the local blues clubs while in high school, spent the next 10 years playing in New Orleans, Chicago and eventually Brazil. Now residing in Brooklyn, New York, his music incorporates bossa nova and jazz and yet his songs still resonate with the simple stories he heard at the barbershop. Jesse earned a degree in Jazz Studies from Loyola University in New Orleans and later studied percussion and guitar in Rio de Janeiro.
